June 27/18

That's a wrap!! What a fun, successful year for all the students of Div. 9.  It was fun reminiscing the last few days at everything we did this year!  I commented that I don't think the memory books have ever been this full!

Today at the assembly we unveiled our new Buddy Bench!  Thanks to everyone who brought in baked goods to make it happen. Thanks again to Vienna's family for putting the bench together and for installing it this summer.  It will be great to have it for next year.

I can't thank everyone enough for all your support and kindness this year.  A huge thank you to Vienna, Kamryn and Liberty's moms for volunteering to help out with our Reader's Workshop each day!  Thanks also for the thoughtful gifts, hugs and thanks today. I really appreciate everything.

Hope you all have a fun and safe summer!  Take Care

June 23

Fun Day was amazing!   Thanks so much to the PAC and all the parents that helped out.  Fun was had by all!  Div.  9 was very proud of themselves for their success in the tug-o-war!  We do make a great team!  As you can see they were a little excited with our win against the 3/4 class.

Div. 9 also did an excellent job of their Earth Song presentation this morning for the parents.  I was proud of everyone - good work!

On Wednesday Ross from KEEPS came and did a very interesting environment presentation.  We learned how difficult a salmon's life is - ask your child how many salmon out of 2,000 actually live? We were very excited to discover all the creatures you can find just in creek water!

Please keep checking your homes for classroom and library books.
Our class celebration is on Tuesday.  Thanks again to the following families for providing...      Roman (Fruit Tray), Rachel (Veggie Plate), Eleana (Sweet Treat), Cody (Popcorn/chips or pretzels) and Teresa (juice boxes).

A huge thank you to Vienna's family for putting together our new buddy bench!  Div. 8 & 9 were very excited to see and sit on it!  On Tuesday at the assembly we'll be unveiling it!

I wanted to thank all of you for your a great year and all your support with everything from field trips, baking, joining us for family reading, craft supplies, etc. etc!    Please keep looking for any classroom or library books and return to the school this next week.

June 15th

Please have your child practice their environment poem that is in their mystery bag.  We will be presenting them to parents next Friday at Family Reading. We are hoping many parents can attend.  It is the day of Fun Day so thought that more parents could attend!   Please remember everyone is welcome to join us for Fun Day and volunteers are always needed.

If anyone can help out by taking home a bin or two of manipulatives to wash please let me know.  Your help would be really appreciated.

Poetry duotangs came home today - these DO NOT NEED TO BE RETURNED.  I will be starting to send home some of their books this next week so that we don't have as much the following week.

The students will be doing one last assessment of the Core Competencies, they will be bringing this home next week.  The rest of their report card will be available online.

Our year end celebration will be on Tuesday, June 26th in the afternoon. Snacks will be provided by...   Roman (Fruit Tray), Rachel (Veggie Plate), Eleana (Sweet Treat), Cody (Popcorn/chips or pretzels) and Teresa (juice boxes).  Thank you in advance.

Please check your homes for any library books or classroom books.  Please return all mystery bags by Wednesday.  We will continue to use them in the classroom but want to ensure we get all books returned.  Thanks!

Have a great Father's Day weekend!

June 8th

Our week started with Dan doing an excellent worm workshop.  We learned so much about worms, ask me some of the facts we learned.

Tuesday we were very fortunate to work with Mrs. Howarth's class.  We learned how to make pinch pots out of clay and the whole process to fire and glaze.  We created our own and then later in June we'll be able to paint them.

Div. 1 & 2 will be having an entrepreneur fair on Thursday, June 14th in the afternoon.   The students have been working on creating business plans, understanding cost vs profit, developing product, pricing and packaging them.  Your child may brought home an order form today for a mug or a notebook (this is one of the projects but they are to be custom so need to be pre-ordered and pre-paid).  Div. 9 will be going to browse/buy these different products which range from $1-$5.

Thank you to Jerome, Jared, Kamryn, Vienna, Rachel and Liberty's parents for driving to the recycling depot tomorrow morning.  We will be leaving at 8:50.  Please ensure that your child dresses for the weather and wears proper footwear (rain is forecasted).  PLEASE SEND BOOSTER SEATS!

Could you please start looking at home for any classroom and library books and return them.  We will no longer be taking out any library books as they need to do inventory.

Volunteer Tea is on Tuesday, June 12th.  Please return the rsvp by tomorrow if you can make it.  Thanks again for all your help and support this year.

June 1st

Wow - it's hard to believe it is June!

A big thank you to all the parents who sent in yummy goodies for our bake sale!  Your support and time are very appreciated.  Thanks to Kamryn, Vienna's mom and Sienna's grandma for helping out with the bake sale - we couldn't have done it without your help.  We counted the money today and it looks like we raised $692.50!!  Our new buddy bench will soon be ordered!

We have a field trip next Friday, June 8 to the recycling depot.  Please sign up on the portal asap and please indicate if you can drive we are still short a few spots.

Unfortunately we have lice in our class so please check your child's hair daily as unfortunately it is that time of year again.

The calendar for June is now updated on this blog - we will have our year end celebration on Tuesday, June 26th.  Roman (Fruit Tray), Rachel (Veggie Plate), Eleana (Sweet Treat), Cody (Popcorn/chips or pretzels) and Teresa (juice boxes).  Thank you in advance.

Enjoy your weekend!

May 25th

A short but very busy week...

We had a fantastic day at Grouse Mountain!  Thank you to Ava, Jerome, Jared, Rachel, Kamryn, Josh and Ben's parents who joined us and helped out!

We also really enjoyed Michael Mitchel you came to Fairview on Wednesday.  The students loved many of his songs but Canada in My Pocket is still definitely the favourite (they even sang it to the Grizzly Bear today in hopes that he'd wake up!)

Our Scientist this week were Vienna and Cody!  Ask your child about elephant toothpaste and what makes an egg float!

Upcoming reminders...

On Wednesday we will once again be changing our Mystery Reading Bags.  Please ensure that your child brings it to school and that all 5 books are in the bag.  Thanks!

Div. 8 &9 will be hosting a bake sale on Thursday, May 31st.  As part of our compassion unit, we are trying to raise money for a 'buddy bench'.  This is a place where students can go if they can't find anyone to play with so that they can connect with other students who are in the same situation.  We would really appreciate if everyone could send in 1-2 dozen treats for us to sell that day.  We also need parent volunteers to help set up at 9:30 and sell during recess (9:50- 10:25) and lunch (11:45 - 12:30).  Could you please email me to let me know if you can help out - sheralyn_rowledge@sd42.ca Thanks in advance for all your help with this special project.

We have booked a compost visit with Dan from Ridge Meadows recycling on June 4th and a field trip to the recycling depot on Friday, June 8th (9:15 start - drivers will be needed Please and Thank You!) a notice has been sent home on the parent portal.  There is no cost for either activity.

Have a great weekend!

May 18th

I hope you all have a fantastic long weekend!  Remember it is extra long as there is no school on Tuesday for students due to a Professional Development Day.

Tomorrow is our 'Walk For Water' event. If you have any 4L milk jugs please send them in.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and is wearing comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen.  They also should bring a water bottle so they can stop in for a quick drink before our second lap.  All donations sent in before or the day of the event will be given to Haiti to provide clean water - $25 provides water for one person for a lifetime!  Hopefully Fairview can make a difference in several people's lives.

Our Scientist this week were Jared, Ava, Rachel and Kamryn.  We learned about dynamic water, how yeast can inflate (or start to inflate a balloon - unfortunately this didn't work as well as it did at home even though we tried it twice! - that's science!) and volcanoes.  It was great to highlight the current volcano in Hawaii to make it more relevant. Please remember to check your child's date and practice reading the experiment at home so they are ready to present.  So far everyone has done a great job!

We have booked a compost visit with Dan from Ridge Meadows recycling on June 4th and a field trip to the recycling depot on Friday, June 8th (9:15 start - drivers will be needed Please and Thank You!) a notice will be sent home on the parent portal soon.  There is no cost for either activity.

Div. 8 &9 will be hosting a bake sale on Thursday, May 31st.  As part o our compassion unit, we are trying to raise money for a 'buddy bench'. Thanks in advance for all your help with this special project.

Please check planners tomorrow for an important information sheet regarding supplies for next year.

Fun Day will be Friday, June 22nd. The PAC are looking for volunteers for this special day.

Thanks for sending in mystery bags on Wednesday.  Most students were able to draw a name for a new book bag and seem very excited about their new books.  If your child forgot theirs, please send in asap so they can get a new set of books.

Our field trip to Grouse Mountain is next Friday.  All students must be signed up/paid for by May 23rd so that we can make alternate arrangements for those not attending.  Thanks and a big thank you to all 8 of our parent volunteers.    Also a reminder to please pay the$10 for your child's memory books if you haven't already done so, this can be done via the parent portal or by cash/cheque.

Have a wonderful weekend!

May 11, 2018

Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and that all the mom's get totally spoiled - you deserve it!!  The children were very proud of their special present that they made for you.

We had our last spelling quiz today but remember they can still visit Spelling City to review and maintain their skills (especially lessons 6 - 12 as these phonetic rules are more challenging and many they just need to keep practicing to memorize).

Thanks to our scientists this week Teresa, Liberty and Sienna we learned about Rainbow Milk, lava lamps and Black Fire Snake.  Ask your child about what happened in these experiments.

Treat Days are coming up on Tuesday, May 14th and Wednesday, May 15th.  Please remember to send in $1 or $2  if you want  your child to participate.

Mystery Bags seem to be very popular with the students and will be changed next Wednesday.  I would appreciate any feedback from parents.  How do they compare to the JRR bags?

Field trip is coming up quickly please be sure to sign up and pay online or send in the $ asap.
We do have 8 parent volunteers and 6 of those are covered within our cost and have room on the bus. Therefore,  if anyone would prefer not to attend please let me know and if everyone one is still interested we will organize the cost and which parents will join us on the bus.  Thanks for all your support.

Our last Scholastic for the year was sent home this week.  Please return any orders by Tuesday.
Thanks to Cody, Josh,  Liberty and Kamryn's mom for organizing our Scholastic this year!  Your help has been very appreciated.

The leadership group is organizing our "Walk for Water'.  They are asking for 4 L milk jugs to be sent in - please rinse the jugs well with soapy water before you send them in.  Thanks.  The Walk is on Friday, May 18th in the afternoon.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be dressed for the weather.  Donations (loonies or townies are great) and will be accepted up until this date.  Money collected will be donated to Haiti.  On Friday morning we will be watching some informational videos provided by Mrs. Valouch so that the students understand how fortunate we are to have access to clean fresh water simply by turning on a tap!

Once again have a fantastic weekend!

May 4/18

Mrs. Boyes sent me these cool pics from gym last week!  I had to share...

Lesson 12 will be our last spelling unit, it is a review so we will do it over 2 weeks.  Don't forget the link to Spelling City even when we are no longer doing spelling in the class as it would be a great way to have your child review their skills.  Hopefully your child has brought their Scientist of the week information as we will be starting next week.  All the children are very excited to be a scientist but if any of you have any questions please just let me know.

Decades Day' is on May 8th.  Students can dress up as any decade if they would like to participate.

We started our new 'Mystery Bag' reading program on Thursday.  Students received a bag with 5 books of varying levels.  The idea is that some will be read independently and some will be read with/by parents.  There is a sheet in each bag with some helpful hints on reading with your child.  If your child is an emergent reader and you would like an additional bag of books that are at their reading level, please email me and I will send one home.  Guided reading books will be sent home from now on in their planner bags.  All book bags will be changed once every two weeks and we ask that your child keeps them in his/her backpack so we may also enjoy them at school.  These are all brand new books that we are very lucky to have so please take really good care of these so that they will last!

Our leadership group is also organizing a 'Walk for Water' event on May 18th.  Each student will need to bring in an empty 1 Litre jug for this event (plastic only, please)  Thank you!

Finally, just a reminder to please sign your child up for the Grouse Mountain field trip and to pay the $10 for the memory book if you have not already done so. Cheques can be made out to Fairview Elementary.    Thanks!

April 27/18

Just a reminder that Monday, April 30th is a pro-d day so there is no school for students.

Thanks to everyone who has already paid for their memory books.  If you haven't please do so either online or send in cash/cheque.  Our field trip to Grouse on Friday, May 25th is also on the portal.  We do need 5 volunteers to join us that day so please indicate if you are available.  Thanks in advance, it should be a really fun day.

If you could please send in cereal boxes next week as we need them for a craft.  Also if you have any craft materials you are not using Div. 9 would appreciate them.  The children love to create!

Mystery reading book bags will soon be coming home! The students are very excited about these new books. Please help your child remember to return these daily in the ziplock bag.  Unfortunately we have had a couple of water bottle spills lately and if books are in the ziplock they will hopefully stay dry!

It's so nice that spring has finally arrived!  With the nice weather sandals and flip flops are a popular footwear but we are often active so please ensure that your child also has runners and socks in their backpacks.

Our bulletin board for the 'Earth Day Green Paint Contest'!  Thank you to Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Shimmin for their help to construct this.  We actually won for the primary divisions - good work Div. 9!

These are the shoes we created with Mrs. Howarth's class!

April 20th

It is so nice to see the sunshine the last couple of days!  With our improving weather (hopefully) we have told the students that starting Monday that they will be going outside rain or shine for recess and lunch. When I was on supervision on Monday all three of the kindergarten classes were outside so we talked and said if they can do it so can we! Our district has adopted a 'west coast' policy which means students need to come prepared to go outside under any conditions (except lighting where is a safety issue).   I feel they need the exercise and fresh air.  Please send in an extra change of clothes for your child in case of accidents.  Thanks!

For Earth Day we had several different and fun activities.  We did a Recycling Relay with Dan from Recycling, made paper (also with Dan), and our reuse challenge of making shoes!  Thank you to everyone who sent in newspapers.  Below are some pictures from our day!

Dan had great games for us in the gym that all involved recycling!
We made shoes out of paper with Mrs. Howarth's class!

Learning about pulp and paper!

Reminder that Monday is class photo day.  I am suppose to be going to a workshop that day so if there is enough TTOC I will be away but we are hoping to arrange so that our classes can be first to get our pictures done.

There are still a few students who have not returned their Health Talk forms (pink) next week.  Your child will only be able to participate with your permission.

Please go to the portal for our memory books and either pay online or send in the $10.00.Thank you!

Our field trip to Grouse Mountain is coming up on May 25th.  Ms Roberts and I are meeting next week to submit the permission on the portal.  This is a bus trip so there will be a limited number of parent volunteers.

Have a great weekend (hopefully sunny!)

April 13th

Friday the 13th!  We made it and had a pretty good day!

Thanks to the parent or grandparent of Jared, Jerome, Kamryn, Libby, Ava, Vienna, Sienna's who drove and helped out with our field trip on Tuesday afternoon.  Margriet Ruuss is an amazing author! We all enjoyed her presentation, her books and her creative ideas and methods to writing and making books.  If you haven't had a chance please talk to your child about their afternoon.

Jump Rope was a big success - lots of great skipping, lots and fun and hopefully Fairview is raising a lot of money for such a special cause!  Pledges and donations will be accepted until the end of next week.

Our PAC are having Treat Days next Tuesday and Wednesday. Bring your loonies and twoonies.  Thursday is Jersey Day and Friday we will be celebrating Earth Day. Dress appropriately for the weather   Scholastic is also due on Friday.  Class Photo day is Monday, April 23rd.

You should have a received a pink note about Sexual Health and Personal Safety presentation that is taking place on Thursday April 26th.  Please sign and return the bottom of this form if you want your child to attend.

You hopefully have received a portal notice about our memory book charge of $10.00.  Please pay asap.

PLEASE REMIND YOUR CHILD TO BE NOTICING ACTS OF COMPASSION OR TIMES WHEN THEY THINK SOMEONE NEEDS COMPASSION this weekend.  As part of our unit we have asked them to try to be noticing at Fairview and the outside world.

Just to let you that Libby's mom has offered to return any public library books in the next couple of weeks.  If you'd rather send them to the school to be returned just make sure to write a note and tell your child so we make sure they get put in the right bin and returned to the right place!  Thanks Jackie!

April 6th, 2018

We have our field trip next Tuesday, April 10th to the library.  We still have 3 students not signed up but we do have just enough drivers.  Thank you in advance for volunteering your time.  Please remember to send your child's booster seats and library card if they already have one.

Jump Rope for Heart is on Thursday, April 12th so please be sure to wear comfortable clothing, proper shoes and bring a water bottle. Pledges will be accepted until April 20th, these can be made by cash/cheque ad sent in the envelope that was sent home or online.

Jersey Day is on Thursday, April 19th.  This special day is to raise money for Kids Sport so we are encouraging every student that wears a jersey to bring in a twoonie or loonie.  I have updated the calendar on this blog so please check for important dates.

The district literacy team has given us over 100 new books (which many from Div. 9 are already excited about!). They are for making high interest, multilevelled book bags for home reading. We are organizing these before they come home in a couple of weeks.  After you and your child have had several weeks we will be looking for parent feedback on this option of home reading.

Looking ahead May 25th is our day at Grouse Mountain so please mark your calendars.  More information to follow closer to the date.

Scholastic will be coming home next week and is due on April 20th.

Cody received a letter from Troy so today at writing many choose to write to him.  He will be very happy with all the letters and notes from his old classmates!

'Kamryn's Hare Slon' was back at work this afternoon...

Jared said they did a great job of his comb over!

March 29/18

Grandparent Day in Div. 9!   A huge thank you to Nancy Zuccaro for providing our special Canada Flag cookies. We really enjoyed decorating and eating them!

Please remember to sign up for our field trip on April 10th and we still need parent drivers. Also if you were not able to get the library form in please take it directly to the Maple Ridge Public Library by April 6th.  Thank you.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter long weekend.  Your child is bringing home an Easter Poem book that they will share with you and yesterday they also brought home their 'sock bunny'!  They were very excited making these and creating these other pastel bunnies.  Don't they look great?

March 9/18

Fairview's Club RED celebration today was a big success!  Our guest reader was Mary Johnston a retired teacher who used to work at Fairview.  Her story of the 'Tacky the Penguin' was engaging for all.

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend our last minute presentation this morning.  I was very proud of the students for their great job!  As a follow-up for 'M is for Maple' you will notice Canadian inventors in your child's Poetry book.  They also have a word search that should be completed over the break and some students wanted to do a bit more research on a Canadian invention or create their own invention!

We are now winding up our Canada unit, we had many highlights and the students have learned so much about their country.  Below is a group playing Canada-opoly!

I forgot to post this last week - but last Friday during Free Choice, our Classroom was turned into
'Kamryn's Hair Salon!

The Fairview choir presented at the assembly on Thursday and provided great entertainment.

Div. 8 & 9 are the lucky winners to attend a special author visit at the public library on April 10th, we will put this on the portal after spring break but please mark your calendars.

Don't forget to remind grandparents (or a special family member) that Thursday, March 29th in the afternoon is Grandparent Day!  Div. 8 and 9 have an exciting afternoon planned!

Hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable spring break.

March 2/18

Wow - it's hard to believe it is already March.  I have updated the March calendar on this blog.

Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to come celebrate your child's learning and help them set goals for this next term.

In your child's JRR bag they have or will be bringing home a large blue paper with M is for Maple on it.   Please practice reading this with them.  Different groups in the class with have several of the letters that they will be presenting to the class.  Thanks!

We have confirmed our field trip to Grouse Mountain.  It will be on Friday, May 25th so please mark your calendars.  More details to follow at a later date.

Our Hundred Day was a big success.  Wearing 100 things was a different but great way to show off different collections.  Great creativity and lots of good counting. All the students in Div. 9 did an excellent job of what they'd look like at 100!  Below is a picture of all these great looking seniors!

Club RED calendars are due, please send in asap (with every square signed). Thanks our celebration will be on Friday, March 9th.  Please wear red if you have it.

The current PAC fundraiser is raffle baskets.  Our theme basket is:  BBQ season so if you would like to contribute please send in money or related items.  Thanks so much your support is really appreciated.

Grandparent Day is on Thursday, March 29th (the afternoon before Good Friday).  A grandparent or other special family member are welcome to attend.  More details to follow.

Below are the pictures of the Maple Man that I promised...

Friday, February 23, 2018

Feb. 23/18

We have had a fun and busy week! On Wednesday we had a special presentation from the 'Maple Man'.  Ask your child how he got and made his maple syrup!    I will add the pictures next week.

As part of our Club RED celebration we had a special guest author.  Linda Smith she is the author of One Two Many.  This book is one we are using as part of our Compassion unit and has a very special message.

Remember that Tuesday is our 100th day of school...
In celebration of being 100 days smarter, we want students to come to school wearing 100 of something! Please don’t think you have to go out and buy anything. Below are a few ideas that involve items you might just have around the house! The only thing we ask is that it is school appropriate of course and realistic for your child to wear all day at school. We can’t wait to see all the creativity!
A few ideas:
  • A necklace with 100 beads or cereal
  • 100 dots on a shirt
  • Pom poms attached to a shirt
  • 100 hair ties
  • 100 safety pins
Enjoy your weekend in the snow!

February 16, 2018

A short but busy week.  Thanks to Liberty, Kali, Lily, Chase and Vienna  for bringing in snacks for our valentine's celebration.   The students were very excited to give and receive their valentines.  Thanks for your help with this.

In your child's Poetry this week I have included some 'Olympic homework', they have two weeks to complete this so it is due Monday, Feb. 26th.  The students were excited to talk and learn more about the olympics. They brainstormed some excellent questions!

Skating is next Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 12:40.  Please sign up on the portal and send in the $ for skates and helmets asap.  Boosters are needed so please send on Tuesday am. Thanks to everyone who signed up to drive we will see you Tuesday afternoon!

Fairview Leadership students are hosting a bake sale next Friday, Feb. 23rd. Treats will be $1- $2.

Hopefully everyone is continuing to read and fill out their Club RED calendars.  If possible next week (Monday - Thursday) please send in 1-3 gently used books for our Book Swap. These will be placed in the library and then on Friday morning every class will have a chance to go and choose a 'new' book that they will be able to keep.  Friday afternoon we will have hallway reading sharing these books!

Our hundred day celebration is just around the corner, Tuesday, Feb. 27th.  This year as I mentioned we are wearing our 100 Day collections - we are looking forward to seeing all these creations.

I will not be sending home any Scholastic this month as there will be a book fair in the library.  Information on this will be sent home soon.

There will be changes to our recycling program at the school coming soon but please encourage your child to pack in and pack out their lunches and snacks as this is a new addition to our already busy custodian's work load.   Thanks for your support.

Mark your calendars for Grandparent Day, Thursday, March 29th in the afternoon (just before our Easter long weekend).

Please notify the office directly when your child is going to be absent from school.

February 8

Division 9 has a new student.   Aashton has joined our class, the students were very welcoming to him and excited that he was back!

On Wednesday we had a fire safety presentation and everyone is bringing home a homework packet for families to do and review.  The fire fighters were impressed with Div. 9's knowledge about fire safety.

Just a reminder that there is no school for the next three days; tomorrow Friday, February 9th (altered calendar day),  Monday, Feb. 12th due to Family Day and on Tuesday, Feb. 13th.

Then Wednesday is Valentine's Day.  Please remember if your child is handing out valentines it is important that they give them to everyone in the class so we are including everyone.  Below is another list of all the students in Div. 9.  ***Note this includes our new student so if you have already done your valentines you will need to do one more.

Josh Kamryn   Aashton   Eleana  Jared   Mannat  Stephen   Kali    Jerome   Libby   Ben   Vienna

There will be no spelling next week with only three days of school.

Thursday, February 1, 2018

February 1st, 2018

February is Club RED month at Fairview!  You should have received the letter and calendar on Wednesday.  Please note that tomorrow Friday, Feb. 2nd is Flashlight reading, Div. 9 is super excited because we will be reading with Mrs. Van Buuren's kindergarten class.  If possible please send your child with a favourite picture book and a flashlight that day.

Your child is also bringing home another place value sheet that needs to be done for homework.  It is similar to the one they did a couple weeks ago.  Thanks for your assistance with this.

Treat Day is on Tuesday and Wednesday Feb. 6 & 7th at lunch
- TCBY frozen yogurt $2.00 or chips/doritos for $1.00. ***Thanks again to our PAC!
There is also a bake sale on Feb. 8 that our Leadership students are putting on to raise money for Haiti.

Valentine's Day is February 14th.  I did put a list of all students in Div. 9 on the blog a couple weeks for you to use when your child is doing their valentines.  It is also Poem in a Pocket Day so students are encouraged to bring a poem in their pocket to share with adults and their classmates.

Come Read With Me - on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 6 - 7 at Fairview.  Learn how to help your child become a life-long reader!  This program will give you examples of how to help children read naturally and have fun at the same time!  Babysitting and snacks will be provided plus an opportunity if you'd like afterwards to immediately use some of these new skills and read with your child from 7- - 7:30.  We are very fortunate to have our the Literacy Committee sponsor this program.  If you are available to attend please RSVP: Maria_temlett@sd42.ca     We are really hoping to get a good turn out for this as like mentioned in our Club RED letter - home reading is drastically decreasing and this is such an important and enjoyable activity for everyone!

Our next skating field trip on Tuesday, Feb. 20th is now up on the portal.

It will be the 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 27th.  Please remember that we are 'wearing' our 100 day project this year!

Yikes - February is going to be a very busy but fun month!

Thursday, February 15th
